How do I connect to my 7 Days to Die server?

In 7 Days to Die, Join a Game, Connect to IP: enter the IP and port from the service page. The first startup generates the map and can take several minutes.

  1. Wait until the GamePanel console shows the server is ready.

  2. 7 Days to Die, Join a Game, Connect to IP: IP, port, then the password if there is one.

How do I become an admin?

From the GamePanel console, type admin add <SteamID64> 0 (0 = maximum rights). The rank is stored in serveradmin.xml.

  1. Find your SteamID64 (17 digits) on your Steam profile.

  2. GamePanelConsole: admin add 7656119XXXXXXXXXX 0.

  3. In game, the console (F1) then gives you access to admin commands.

How do I change the difficulty, password and player count?

The common settings are in the GamePanel's Server Options (MAX_PLAYERS, GAME_DIFFICULTY, PASSWORD). Everything else (day/night cycle, horde, loot) is set in serverconfig.xml.

  1. Stop the server.

  2. GamePanelServer Options: change the setting you want.

  3. For everything else: GamePanelFile Managerserverconfig.xml, then save.

  4. Start the server.

Stable or experimental version: how do I choose?

The server and players must be on the same version. The server's Steam branch is set in Server Options (SRCDS_BETAID); leave it blank for the stable version.

  1. Check your game's version (Steam, Properties, Betas).

  2. GamePanelServer Options: SRCDS_BETAID with the name of the same branch, or blank for stable.

  3. Restart: the server downloads the version (leave AUTO_UPDATE enabled).

Common errors

  • Switching major version can make an existing world incompatible: copy your save folder first.
