How do I create and set up my FiveM license key?

Your server starts with a shared key provided by HelloServ, which Cfx.re may throttle. Create your own for free on portal.cfx.re (formerly Keymaster), tied to your server's IP address, then paste it into GamePanelServer OptionsClé de licence FiveM (FiveM license key).

  1. Cfx.re account: go to portal.cfx.re and log in. If you don't have an account, click Sign Up: it's the same account as the Cfx.re forum.

  2. In the portal, open Server Keys (direct address: portal.cfx.re/servers/registration-keys) and create a new key.

  3. Fill in the form. Name: anything (your server's name). IP address: the one shown on the service page in the client area, without the port (for example 203.0.113.10, not 203.0.113.10:30120). Server type: choose a server hosted with a provider (VPS or dedicated), not a home server.

  4. Copy the generated key. In GamePanel, your server, Server Options: paste it into "Clé de licence FiveM", replacing the existing value.

  5. Restart the server, then check the console: no license error should appear.

Common errors

  • License error or server rejected by Cfx.re: the key is tied to another IP (previous host, IP entered with the port, typo). Create a new key with the exact IP from the service page.
  • The key worked and then the server stops starting: it was deleted or regenerated in the portal. Check it's still listed under Server Keys, otherwise create one and paste it again.
  • The server doesn't start at all: check the key is pasted in full, with no space before or after. If your server.cfg also has an sv_licenseKey line, put the same key there or remove the line.
  • Never share your key, not in a public ticket or on Discord: it's tied to your server.
Backups, subdomain, SFTP and ports

These topics are common to every game: see the GamePanel fiche. For SFTP, follow the step-by-step FileZilla guide.

  1. Help centre home, GamePanel fiche (all games).

How do I set up txAdmin?

On first start, the GamePanel console shows the txAdmin address and a PIN code. Open the address, enter the PIN, link your Cfx.re account, then choose a template (QBCore, ESX…) or an existing server.

  1. Start the server and check the console: txAdmin address and PIN.

  2. Open the address in your browser, enter the PIN.

  3. Follow the wizard: template or existing server, then the license key. Use the same one as in Server Options (create your key).

How do I install a resource (script, car, map)?

Upload the resource's folder into resources (GamePanelFile Manager or SFTP), then add ensure resource_name to server.cfg.

  1. Unzip the resource on your computer and check it has an fxmanifest.lua.

  2. Upload the folder into resources (SFTP recommended for large packs).

  3. server.cfg: add ensure folder_name, then restart.

  4. Error on startup: check the console, it's usually a missing dependency.

How do I connect a MySQL database to my FiveM server?

Create the database in GamePanel (Databases), then paste its credentials into server.cfg on a set mysql_connection_string line.

In the GamePanel

your serverManagementDatabasesOpen

Before you start

The oxmysql resource (or mysql-async for older scripts) in resources. The ESX and QBCore frameworks include it.

  1. GamePanelManagementDatabasesCreate: choose a host, give it a name (e.g. fivem), leave % in "Connections From", then "Submit".

  2. In the list, note the database name, the username, the password (click it to reveal it) and the "Connection" column: the address before : is the host, the number after is the port.

  3. File Manager, server.cfg: add the following line with your values, placing ensure oxmysql before the resources that use the database: set mysql_connection_string "host=HOST;port=PORT;user=USER;password=PASSWORD;database=DATABASE_NAME". If the connection fails even though the credentials are correct (an old password set by hand, containing a = or a ;), use the same line in mysql:// format instead: set mysql_connection_string "mysql://USER:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT/DATABASE_NAME"

  4. With mysql-async, the line reads server=HOST;port=PORT;userid=USER;password=PASSWORD;database=DATABASE_NAME.

  5. Restart and check the console: oxmysql reports the connection is established, otherwise it shows the error (see the common errors below).

  6. To import the .sql file that came with a script or framework: the database's "PHPMyAdmin" button, Import tab.

Common errors

  • Access denied: username or password mistyped, or a = or ; in an old password (use the mysql:// format from step 3). If in doubt, "Reset Password" and paste it again.
  • localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the host: doesn't work, the database is on a different machine. Use the host from the Connection column.
  • Game server port instead of the database port: use the one from the Connection column.
  • mysql://… format: an @, :, /, ? or # in the password breaks the line: reset the password and go back to the first format.
  • oxmysql not found or MySQL not ready errors: ensure oxmysql is missing or placed after your scripts.
  • Can't create another one: the number of databases depends on your plan, the Usage counter on the tab shows it.
How do I update FiveM (artifacts) or fix the alpine folder?

The FiveM version (the artifacts) is chosen in GamePanel, Server Options, "Version de FiveM (artifact)" (FiveM version/artifact): leave it on recommended unless you have a specific need. It's installed by reinstalling the artifacts from the Advanced, Avancé menu (Server Actions). This is also the fix if the alpine folder was deleted or damaged and the server no longer starts.

  1. GamePanel, Server Options: set "Version de FiveM (artifact)" to recommended (or a specific build number).

  2. Stop the server, then GamePanelAdvancedServer Actions: run the artifacts reinstall.

  3. Start the server and check the console: the server version shows at launch.

Common errors

  • Don't delete the alpine folder: it's the server's engine. If deleted by mistake, step 2 brings it back, your resources aren't affected.
  • A script needs a newer version: set it to latest or the requested number, then redo step 2.

Troubleshooting 2

My FiveM server doesn't show up or rejects players

First check the license key (tied to the right IP) and the console at startup. Players can also connect directly with F8 then connect IP:port.

  1. Console: a license error means the key is missing, revoked or tied to another IP (create your key).

  2. Test in game: F8, connect IP:port.

  3. Player count: it must match your sv_maxclients and OneSync.

  4. Still stuck: open a ticket with the last 30 lines of the console.

My FiveM server lags or runs out of memory

Poorly optimised scripts are the main cause. Type resmon in a player's F8 console to see which resources are heavy; if RAM stays full, move up to a bigger plan.

  1. In game, F8, resmon 1: spot the resources with high CPU time.

  2. Remove or replace the scripts at fault.

  3. RAM constantly full: service page, My plan section (Overview tab).
