How do I enable cracked mode (players without an official account)?
Set online-mode=false in the server.properties file (GamePanelFile Manager), with the server stopped, then restart it. Players without an official Minecraft account can then connect. Also install an authentication plugin, otherwise anyone can take someone else's username. This only applies to Minecraft Java: Bedrock doesn't have this setting.
In the GamePanel, stop the server.
Open GamePanelFile Managerserver.properties.
Replace
online-mode=truewithonline-mode=false. From 1.19.1 onward, also setenforce-secure-profile=false.Click "Save File", then start the server.
On Paper or Spigot, install an authentication plugin (AuthMe Reloaded or nLogin): each player sets a password on their first connection (
/register), then enters it every time after (/login). See install a plugin. A Vanilla server doesn't accept plugins: switch to Paper first.Network with a proxy (Velocity or BungeeCord): cracked mode is set on the proxy (
online-mode = falseinvelocity.toml,online_mode: falsein BungeeCord'sconfig.yml). All servers on the network should switch toonline-mode=falsewith forwarding enabled (Velocity: modern forwarding, same secret key inconfig/paper-global.yml; BungeeCord:bungeecord: trueinspigot.yml), and the authentication plugin goes on the proxy.
Common errors
- "Lost" inventories and progress: in cracked mode, a player no longer has the same identifier (UUID) as in official mode. Players who already played start from scratch. Switch to cracked mode as soon as you create the server if possible.
- Impersonated usernames: without an authentication plugin, anyone can connect with an operator's username and take their permissions.
- Chat errors or disconnects on the first message:
enforce-secure-profileis still set totrue. - "Failed to verify username" despite the change: the file wasn't saved, or the server wasn't restarted.
How do I connect to my Minecraft server?
Your Minecraft server's address (IP and port) is shown on the service page in the client area and in the GamePanel. Paste it into Minecraft Java, Multiplayer menu.
Open the client area, then your Minecraft server.
Copy the displayed address (format
IP:port, or your subdomainname.helloserv.netif you created one).In Minecraft Java: Multiplayer, Add Server, paste the address, Done.
Check that the server is started (status "Online" on the service page).
How do I get a simple address for my Minecraft server (subdomain)?
You can create a free address like yourserver.helloserv.net from your Minecraft server's page in the client area. A personal domain name (.com or similar) is available as an option.
Client area, your Minecraft server, Server IP tab, Subdomain block.
Enter a name, then click Create.
Give this address to your players: there's no need to mention the port.
Limit: 5 address creations per server per 24 hours. You can always delete one.
How do I make myself an operator (OP) and manage the whitelist on my Minecraft server?
Type the commands in the GamePanel console, without the /: op YourUsername to become an operator, whitelist on then whitelist add Username to only allow your players.
GamePanelConsole, server started.
op YourUsername: in-game admin rights.whitelist on: turns on the whitelist.whitelist add Usernamefor each allowed player, whitelist remove Usernameto remove one.
How do I back up and restore my Minecraft server?
Backups are only available with the paid Backups option (price shown on the service page), added from the service page's Add-ons tab (billed pro rata). With the option, the GamePanel's Backups menu (Management group) creates and restores backups; backup storage equals 50% of your storage and scales with your upgrades. Without the option, download the world folder through the File Manager or via SFTP.
With the Backups option: GamePanelManagementBackupsCreate, before any update or mod install.
To roll back: choose the backup, then Restore. Current files are replaced.
To add the option: client area, service page, Add-ons tab, Backups, Add.
How do I upgrade my Minecraft server to a higher plan?
Client area, service page, Subscription tab, My plan section: choose the higher plan. You pay the monthly price difference for each month started until renewal (half if less than 15 days remain); your files are kept.
Client area, your server, Subscription tab, My plan section (any pending renewal invoice must be paid first).
Choose the plan, confirm payment of the difference.
Restart the server to benefit from the new RAM.
The new price applies to the following renewals.

How do I change my Minecraft server's version?
GamePanelAdvancedServer Actions, "Install Different Edition" section: choose the edition (Vanilla, Paper, Fabric…) and the version. Your files and world are kept, unless you enable the FORMAT option (which wipes everything): back up your world first regardless.
Download the world folder (
world) through the File Manager or via SFTP; with the paid Backups option, also create a backup (GamePanelManagementBackups).GamePanelAdvancedServer Actions: Edition, Version, then "Install Different Edition". Leave FORMAT disabled to keep your files. The server stops, and the install shows up in the console.
Once the install is done, start the server. If you enabled FORMAT, upload the
worldfolder back first.Your players need to use the same version in their launcher. Going back to an older version can damage the world.
How do I install Paper, Purpur or Spigot on my Minecraft server?
Paper and Purpur (which accept Spigot plugins) can be installed yourself: GamePanelAdvancedServer Actions, "Install Different Edition". Choose the same version as your world. Your files are kept if the FORMAT option stays disabled: back up anyway first.
Download the
worldfolder; with the paid Backups option, also create a backup (GamePanel, Management, Backups).Advanced, Server Actions: Edition Paper or Purpur, then the same version as your world (for Paper: the Minecraft Version field, then Version, the build, for example "26.2 (129)"), FORMAT disabled, then "Install Different Edition".
Start the server: a
pluginsfolder appears. If you enabled FORMAT, upload theworldfolder back first.
How do I install Fabric on my Minecraft server?
Fabric is installed yourself from the GamePanel: Advanced, Server Actions, "Install Different Edition", Fabric edition. Mods then go in the mods folder, and each player needs Fabric and the same mods on their side.
Download your files, or create a backup if you have the paid Backups option (Management, Backups): worth doing as a precaution, even though the install keeps your files as long as FORMAT stays disabled.
Advanced, Server Actions: Fabric Edition, your Minecraft version, then "Install Different Edition".
Start the server once, then stop it: the
modsfolder is created.Upload your mods into
mods(including Fabric API if your mods need it), then restart.
How do I install Forge or NeoForge on my Minecraft server?
Forge and NeoForge are installed yourself from the GamePanel: Advanced, Server Actions, "Install Different Edition". No need to open a ticket. For a ready-made modpack, use the Modpack Manager instead (Tools menu).
Note the exact version your mods require (e.g. Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.3.0).
Download your files, or create a backup if you have the paid Backups option (Management, Backups): worth doing as a precaution, even though the install keeps your files as long as FORMAT stays disabled.
Advanced, Server Actions: Forge or NeoForge Edition, the version, then "Install Different Edition".
Start the server once, then upload your mods into the
modsfolder and restart.
How do I install a CurseForge or Modrinth modpack?
The GamePanel has a modpack manager: search for the pack, choose the version, install. If the pack isn't listed there, install its "Server Pack" manually, via SFTP or by uploading files in the GamePanel.
Check the recommended RAM: a large modpack (All The Mods, Cobblemon, etc.) often needs 12 GB or more.
Download your files (or back up with the paid Backups option), then open the GamePanel's modpack manager and install the pack.
Pack not in the manager: download the Server Pack (Files tab on CurseForge or Modrinth, never the client pack).
With the server stopped, upload the archive (File Manager, Upload, then extract it) or its contents via SFTP, and follow the pack's README for the startup jar.
To keep an existing world: import its folder under the name
worldafter a clean first install.
How do I install a plugin on my Minecraft server?
Plugins only work on Paper, Purpur or Spigot (not on Vanilla, Fabric or Forge). Drop the plugin's .jar file into the plugins folder then restart.
Check that your server runs Paper, Purpur or Spigot.
Download the plugin matching your version (Modrinth, Hangar, SpigotMC).
GamePanelFile Managerplugins: upload the
.jar.Restart the server and check the console: the plugin should appear while loading.
How do I import my world into my Minecraft server?
Upload your world folder as a zip archive, extract it and name it world (or change level-name in server.properties to match your folder's name).
Stop the server.
Compress your world folder into a
.zipon your computer.GamePanelFile Manager: upload the zip, then extract it.
Delete or rename the old
worldfolder, then rename your world toworld.Start the server. A modded world needs the same mods and the same version as where it was created.
How do I edit server.properties (name, slots, cracked mode)?
The server.properties file is edited in the GamePanel's File Manager, with the server stopped. Common settings: motd (displayed message), max-players (slots), difficulty, online-mode.
Stop the server.
Open GamePanelFile Managerserver.properties.
Edit the line you need, save, then start the server.
Cracked mode (
online-mode=false): it has its own risks (inventories, usernames). Follow the enable cracked mode fiche.
How do I access my Minecraft server's files over SFTP?
Your SFTP credentials (address with the port, username) are in the GamePanel, System menu, SFTP Details. The password is your GamePanel account password. Use FileZilla or WinSCP for large uploads (modpacks, worlds).
GamePanelSystemSFTP Details: note the connection address and username.
In FileZilla: SFTP protocol (not FTP), paste this information and your GamePanel password.
Drag your files into the server's folders, with the server stopped for worlds. Full step by step guide with screenshots: SFTP with FileZilla.
Troubleshooting 6
My Minecraft server won't start or stops by itself
The cause is almost always written in the GamePanel console: an incompatible mod or plugin, a Minecraft version that doesn't match your mods, not enough memory, or an unaccepted eula.txt file.
GamePanelConsole: start the server and read the last red lines.
If a mod or plugin is named, remove it from the
modsorpluginsfolder and restart."OutOfMemory" message: the server is short on RAM, lighten it or move to a higher plan.
After a failed update: restore the latest backup.
Still stuck: open a ticket with the last 30 lines of the console.
My Minecraft server crashes after adding a mod or plugin
A mod or plugin that crashes the server is usually built for a different Minecraft version, for a different loader (Forge instead of Fabric), or is missing a dependency.
Remove the last mod or plugin you added and restart to confirm.
Check its page: Minecraft version, loader, required dependencies.
"Client only" mods (minimap, shaders): they never go on the server.
Add mods one by one to isolate the one causing the issue.
My server stops with "exit code 137"
Exit code 137 means the server was stopped because it went over your plan's memory. This isn't a Minecraft error itself: you need to reduce consumption or get more RAM.
In the GamePanel, check the RAM used just before the stop: if it's hitting the maximum, memory is indeed the cause.
Remove the last mod or plugin you added, then restart: a single mod is sometimes enough to overflow everything.
Pre-generate the world (Chunky): exploring new areas causes the biggest spikes.
Client area, service page, Details tab, Startup command block: choose Optimized (Paper, Spigot, Purpur) or Modpack (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric), Apply then Restart now. These commands leave a memory margin outside of Java.
As a last resort (large modpack, many players): move to a higher plan from the service page, My plan section.
Common errors
- Reinstalling the server changes nothing: consumption stays the same.
- 137 stops even though the displayed RAM stays far from the maximum: open a ticket stating the version and the modpack, we'll take a look on our side.
The full guide, valid for every game, is in the GamePanel fiche: My server stops (code 137) or lags.
My Minecraft server lags: which plan should I choose?
Lag mostly comes from the number of players, mods and world generation. Rough guide: Vanilla or Paper up to 10 players, 4 GB; small modpack, 8 GB; large modpack or more than 15 players, 12 GB and up.
Watch CPU and RAM in the GamePanel while the lag happens.
Prefer Paper or Purpur over Vanilla for a plugin-based server.
Pre-generate the world (Chunky plugin) to avoid spikes while exploring.
Apply the Optimized or Modpack startup command: service page, Details tab, Startup command block, then Restart now.
If RAM is constantly full: move to a higher plan from the service page, My plan section (Overview tab).
Available plans and their RAM are listed on the Minecraft page of helloserv.fr.
I need an extra port (Geyser, Simple Voice Chat, Dynmap)
You can add a port yourself, no ticket needed: client area, service page, Server IP tab, Secondary ports section, Request a port button. The port arrives within a few minutes; 2 secondary ports maximum per server.
Service page, Server IP tab, Secondary ports, Request a port (one request at a time).
After a few minutes, click Sync: the new port shows up.
Enter this port in the plugin's or mod's configuration (Geyser, Simple Voice Chat, Dynmap), then restart.
My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server
Check in order: server started, correct address with the port, same Minecraft version, whitelist, and an official Minecraft account if online-mode=true.
"Online" status on the service page.
Full address (
IP:portor subdomain).Same version on the player's side as the server's (and the same mods for a modded server).
Whitelist active? Add the player with
whitelist add Username."Failed to verify username" message: the player doesn't have an official Minecraft account. To let them in anyway, follow the enable cracked mode fiche.
Common errors
- "Connection refused: getsockopt": the server isn't started, or the port is wrong. Start it from the GamePanel (after an order, it isn't running until you start it for the first time) and double check the exact address and port on the service page.
- "Connection timed out: getsockopt": the address isn't responding. Check the IP and the port; if only one player is affected, have them try over a 4G or 5G mobile hotspot to see if their router or network is filtering the connection.
