Essentials 3

How do I connect to my Rust server?

The safest way: the game console. Press F1 and type client.connect IP:port with the address from the service page. The first startup (map generation) takes several minutes.

  1. Wait for the GamePanel console to show "Server startup complete".

  2. In Rust, press F1, then type client.connect IP:port (the service page's main address), Enter.

  3. You can also add it as a favorite from the Modded or Community tab of the server browser, once it shows up there.

How do I become admin?

From the GamePanel console, type ownerid followed by your SteamID64, then server.writecfg. Reconnect to the server for the rank to apply.

  1. Find your SteamID64 (17 digits) on your Steam profile or a site like steamid.io.

  2. GamePanelConsole: ownerid 7656119XXXXXXXXXX "YourNickname", then server.writecfg.

  3. Disconnect and reconnect in-game.

Backups, subdomain, SFTP and ports

These topics are common to every game: see the GamePanel fiche. For SFTP, follow the step-by-step FileZilla guide.

  1. Help center home, GamePanel fiche (all games).

How do I change the name, map and player count?

Everything is in the GamePanel's Server Options: name, description, map size and seed, max players, server image and logo. Changing the size or the seed creates a new map, meaning a wipe.

  1. Stop the server.

  2. GamePanelServer Options: edit the name (Hostname), the description, WORLD_SIZE, WORLD_SEED or MAX_PLAYERS.

  3. Start it: the new map generates on launch.

Common errors

  • A very large map size needs more RAM and makes startup longer.
How do I install uMod (Oxide) plugins?

First enable Oxide: Server Options, set OxideMod to 1, then restart. Then there are two tools: the Plugin Installer (the uMod and Codefling catalog, with search) and the Mod Manager (a selection of common plugins like Kits, NTeleportation or Backpacks).

  1. GamePanelServer Options: set OxideMod to 1, then restart once (Oxide installs on startup).

  2. Plugin Installer (server menu): search for the plugin, Install. Or GamePanelAdvancedMod Manager for the curated selection. Oxide loads them live, no restart needed.

  3. To configure a plugin: File Manager, oxide/config/<Plugin>.json, then oxide.reload <Plugin> in the console.

  4. Plugin not found in either: upload its .cs file to oxide/plugins.

Uninstalling a plugin removes its .cs file but keeps its config and data (oxide/config, oxide/data).

Troubleshooting 3

My server doesn't show up in the server list

Rust's server list often takes 10 to 30 minutes to show a new server, and a server running Oxide is listed under the Modded tab. If you can connect with client.connect, the server works fine: it's just a listing delay.

  1. Check that you're connecting with client.connect IP:port (connection block).

  2. Look under the Modded tab if Oxide is enabled, Community otherwise.

  3. Still missing after an hour: open a ticket, we'll check the query port (QUERY_PORT) on our end.

Rust+ won't connect to my server

The Rust+ app uses its own port (APP_PORT). You need to open it from your server's page, it takes less than a minute.

  1. Client areaMy Servicesyour serverSecondary ports: open an extra port.

  2. GamePanelServer Options: put this number into APP_PORT, then restart.

  3. In-game, press Escape, Rust+: pair the server again.

My Rust server won't start

A Rust server takes several minutes to start: it's generating the map. A real outage usually comes from a monthly Rust update (first Thursday of the month) or a plugin.

  1. Let it run for 5 to 10 minutes and watch the console: map generation is normal.

  2. After a Rust update: restart, the server updates itself on startup, and so does Oxide if it's enabled (OxideMod set to 1 in Server Options).

  3. Remove the last plugin you added from the oxide/plugins folder, then restart.

  4. Custom map (Custom Map URL): the link must be a direct download of the .map file.

  5. Still stuck: open a ticket with the last 30 lines of the console.
