Your server asks for authentication on first startup

A Hytale server must be linked to a Hytale account before it can accept players. You only do this once, from the GamePanel console, with a code you validate on the Hytale website.

  1. Start the server, then type /auth login device in the GamePanel console.

  2. The console shows a link and a code: open the link, sign in to your Hytale account and enter the code.

  3. The console confirms the connection: the server is ready.

How do I connect to my Hytale server?

In Hytale, Multiplayer, add a server with the IP and port from the service page. The server must be authenticated first (see above).

  1. Check in the console that the server is started and authenticated.

How do I install plugins or mods?

Hytale plugins and mods go in the server's mods folder, then you restart. Some "early" plugins need an option enabled in Server Options.

  1. Stop the server.

  2. Upload the plugin file to mods (File Manager or SFTP).

  3. If its page mentions an early plugin: GamePanelServer Options, enable HYTALE_ACCEPT_EARLY_PLUGINS.

  4. Start the server and check the console: a rejected plugin is named there.

How do I become an operator (admin)?

Give yourself operator rank from the GamePanel console with /op add <username>. The HYTALE_ALLOW_OP option in Server Options must be enabled.

  1. GamePanelServer Options: check that HYTALE_ALLOW_OP is enabled (restart if you change it).

  2. GamePanel console: /op add YourUsername.

How do I choose the Hytale version (release or pre-release)?

GamePanelServer OptionsPatchline: release for the stable version, pre-release for the test version. Players must be on the same branch as the server.

  1. Back up your worlds before switching branches.

  2. Server Options, Patchline: choose release or pre-release.

  3. Restart. If the console doesn't show the new version, reinstall from GamePanelAdvancedServer Actions.

Troubleshooting 1

My Hytale server won't start

Read the last lines of the console. On first startup, the server waits for your Hytale account authentication. After that, the most common cause is a plugin incompatible with the server version.

  1. First startup: follow the authentication article.

  2. Remove the last plugin you added from the mods folder, then restart.

  3. A plugin marked "early" only loads if Accept Early Plugins is enabled in Server Options.

  4. Still stuck: open a ticket with the last 30 lines of the console.
